The fig

In one of the scenes of my new book, Philip the main character, meets with Jesus who offers him a fig.

The symbolism has to do with how Philip had been waiting for his dad to come home, sitting under a fig tree.
I introduced a new palet of colour to draw out the interplay between light and dark.

This painting alongside another 6 will feature in an exhibition that will illustrate the new book and be shown at 4 different book launches in September 2016.

The picture will be hung fairly high up, so this perspective gives the feel of the hand reaching out from light to darkness.
