OK, so what does it boil down to? An opportunity to share my heart…

So, day 4 of serving as President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain (BUGB) and I’m reflecting on what it all means…

It is a role that I humbly believe that God has given and asked me to do. It’s a role where I am able to influence people within churches of the BUGB to be Big Hearted and look out towards those who don’t have a clue about the Christian faith and what it is all about, let alone what it means to be a baptist!

I am encouraged already by the way people have got ‘it’ so soon. Just before one of the sessions where we celebrated communion on Sunday, two ladies enthusiastically told me a story of something that had just happened out in London when they had gone to get coffee. They were animated as they recalled how they had met a guy who had complained of a sore back. They simply offered to pray for him which he agreed to, but asked if they could pray later! That’s it- They were buzzing!

For these two ladies that was the first time they offered prayer and they were excited and wanted to let me know what influence my talk had had on them from the Friday night. Encouraging.

I hope this is the first of many stories of people reaching out to those around them in Jesus name.

I think I’m in for a treat as I work alongside and seek to inspire people with the amazing news that we have. It is worth sharing.

  1. Excellent – God so loves the church that he keeps on giving it opportunity after opportunity to joing with Him in what He’s doing!

  2. Looking forward to your year as President with all the enthusiasm you generate. You say your looking out towards those who don’t have a clue about the Christian faith and what it is all about, let alone what it means to be a baptist! Problem is, this applies to a lot of people in our churches as well as outside. Go to it Chris!
